The UpdateWednesday, July 30, 2008
Between eating my onions, beets, radishes, and tomatoes, who have been enjoying the warmth, I have been enjoying the weather as well. I had 2 friends come to visit last week, and I got to play tour guide and show them around (as well as see some things that I hadn't gotten to see yet). We started out with the first day in Hamburg - around the harbor, at the beach, climbing the Michel cathedral for a nice view over the city, and of course enjoying a nice fish dinner. The next day we still had more in town to see, so we went on a harbor boat tour, saw some of the downtown such as the Alster lake, walked around in Planten un Blomen (a huge downtown park), and then went home and made sushi. The next day we went to visit Bremen and saw the famous town musicians statue, a windmill, the Hanse Quarters, and the Schnoor District among other things. The next day we were off to Kiel to go to the beach, and got a nice boat ride on the way! To view the whole photo album as we experienced it, visit here! Coming up this week in Hamburg is the Cruise Days - a weekend when tons of cruise ships, including the Queen Mary 2 (the largest cruise ship ever built, as of 2003), will dock in Hamburg's harbor, or at least pass through. There are of course some events surrounding it all, like a blue light show, which looks very blue I must say, or cruise ship tours, bands, and of course food. Might be something to see if the weather's nice and you can fight your way through the crowd! posted by bhornk @ 12:20 |
